What is Planet Fitness Crowd Meter? How Does it Work

Planet Fitness is one of the most popular gym franchises in the whole world. It attracts millions of new members each year.

In such a situation, you would expect their clubs to be fully stacked from mornings till evenings. And for a gym that caters primarily to beginners, having a huge crowd might be off-putting or intimidating to people who are just starting out.

Fortunately, Planet Fitness members do not have to live in anticipation about how busy their gyms will be at a particular time.

With the Crowd Meter function in Planet Fitness’s mobile application or website, users can easily track how busy the gyms are in real time.

So, let’s figure out exactly what the crowd meter is and how it works.

What is Planet Fitness Crowd Meter?

The Planet Fitness Crowd Meter is one of the latest functions of the PF mobile app and website that allows users to view real-time updates on how busy Planet Fitness gyms are on a particular day at a particular time.

This feature was introduced a couple of years ago as a precautionary move to promote social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Members could simply use the application to check if the gym had reached its capacity and schedule their workouts accordingly.

The crowd meter was a huge success, especially as it promoted safety standards and made workout scheduling easier for paying members. As a result, the feature is still around on the application as well as the website.

How Does Planet Fitness Crowd Meter Work?

The Planet Fitness Crowd Meter is updated on the basis of how many members check in at their respective gyms at a particular time. Since all the members have to check in using a key tag or the mobile application, the information is updated on the website and the application automatically.

The crowd meter is further updated when a member checks out of the gym. Please note that the feature can only tell you how many members are present within the premises of a specific PF branch at a particular time. As such, you won’t have any information on how many of these members are working out in the weightlifting section, the cardio section, or occupying other machines like the HydroMassage beds or Total Body Enhancement.

The crowd meter at Planet Fitness gives precise information on how many members are currently inside a specific Planet Fitness. Moreover, the feature will also let you view how busy the gym has been for the entire week during particular time slots.

This will allow you to figure out what time is the best suited for your requirements and plan your workouts accordingly.

How Do you Read the Crowd Meter at Planet Fitness?

The Planet Fitness Crowd Meter is available on the official PF website as well as the mobile application.

The Crowd Meter records the current activity within any PF branch.

The number of active members within the gym is represented by a color-coded bar that ranges from light purple (not busy) to dark purple (very busy).

If the bar is full, it means that the particular gym has reached its maximum capacity. If the bar is empty and colorless, it means that the gym is currently unoccupied.

Users can also track the crowd level at PF gyms at particular times during the past week by choosing any specific day and time from the last 7 days.

To access the Planet Fitness Crowd Meter, follow these steps:

Using Website:

  • Navigate to Planet Fitness’s official website.
  • Click on “Find A Club.”
  • Locate any specific PF branch.
  • Click on “Go to Club Page” on the left side.
